The Challenge

To achieve planning approval for the establishment of a large retail store. The project was dependant on multiple stakeholders from public service departments & agencies to private companies objecting to the retail store planning application. The core challenges included- siloed working practices , negative perceptions of the potential commercial impact of a large retailer and impact on traffic at peak hours.

What we did

We identified the key areas of difference and conflict across the multiple stakeholders. We managed expectations and communications through formulating a Stakeholder Framework based on the level of interest and influence of each stakeholder, gathered fact-based evidence to counter objections, established levels of acceptable compromise and proactively engaged with the media.

What was the outcome?

An Bord Pleanála (The Irish Planning Appeals Board) granted approval for the establishment of a large retail store.
